Wednesday, December 3rd

I have been nominated the evening flusher. I am anxious to go home at lunch and check on Miss Angel. Dr. Phinn was there at 10am to insert the catheter and begin Angels’ treatment. Report in from volunteer Katy “Vet is still there, catheter is in, and will need flushing clean 4x per day, penicillin shot has been administered. Cheryl can flush on Wed, Thurs, and Fri. I can do a day, just let me know which day helps Lynn. If you could do evening flushes that would be awesome. So I am the evening flusher. It’s crummy on one hand having it get dark so early. By 5:15pm when I am home from work, evening has already arrived. I will be heading down to pasture, flashlight in daughters’ hand to do the flush. Lets all say prayers for Angel. I really want to get this girl well. I am hoping to hear from Bonnie today, Roxy and Nikki and Kevin’s new mom. I know they say no news is good news, but I’m always awaiting those updates. Tomorrow I am in a class in Monterey all day. So hard not to scoot home for lunch. Thank Goodness once again for my volunteers. They keep it all rolling. Happy Wednesday~L Some quick updates:

Zoey is coming along fine...she got her stitches out, and is making a quick and full recovery from her surgery.  Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers you sent her way...they worked!!!

Daisy is on the mend, eating like a little piggy, being naughty, back to herself, much to her family's relief.  She had her last application of Xxterra on her Sarcoid, now it's bandaged for 5-7 days, then hopefully...no more Sarcoid!!

Angel is scheduled for Wednesday, 10 am (tomorrow)...Thank God for volunteers, especially Jenelle, Katy and Tasha for all their time and patience working with her.  We will keep you all posted as we learn more about what is causing her current issues.  Thank you for all the donations, love and prayers for our special girl.  Cross your fingers for good news...

We are excited as our annual celebration nears (Saturday nite).  With the current economy it's going to be a tough holiday for many people and animals...please help out however you can; donate to the food bank, volunteer at a soup kitchen, make an honorary donation to your favorite animal rescue in the name of someone you love...if we all did a little bit, it would make a HUGE difference.

Jayce still needs a home...he's a cutie, put together beautifully, and will be a wonderful horse someday.  Bruiser (formerly Joe Jonas) is also ready for his new home...

Buggs the mule needs a home.  You can see him on our adoption opportunities page.

How about... home for the holidays!  If you are interested in adopting one of our equines please fill out an adoption application.

Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!

Monday, December 1st

Last Sandy mentioned her filly was colic'ing.  Let's all hope she is well now.  Nothing like a Sunday morning fire drill to get the blood pumping.  Lots of horses colic this time of year.  Scarey stuff.  I also am hoping little Hunter is okay.  He was having trouble adjusting to being away from mom.  When Karie returns to town, let's hope the report is all good news..In this midst of This last weekend.  I was working with Jack Van Berg he is the famous trainer of Aleysheba. The original woman who was to come from Oklahoma to pick up all 12 mares has flaked. Thus leaving us back at square one.  I had retained close to 100 emails and phone calls about these mares, and thankfully located a wonderful Thoroughbred rescue "Castleton Farms Horse Rescue" Alex of Castleton has been forwarded all of the contact information of people interested in a Thoroughbred mare. This is very good news for all the mares . Thanks go out to Alex for helping out in this situation.  Thank you for everything.

Please don't forget, November 2008

Joe in Woodland has horses.  If you are one of the 500 people that has tried to reach me over the last 3 weeks, looking for a horse....call Joe today (info at www.tbfriends.com) he has them.  He can set you up.  You may have to pay for transportation, but most of these equines are a once in a lifetime opportunity.

"Tbfriends has access to more than 120 horses. These horses come from ranch foreclosures and partial ranch reductions. They come from families who have lost their employment. They come from people who do not want to buy feed this winter. If you would like one of these free horses, it is best to phone. My cell is 530-383-2120. I do the screening. I also arrange transportation. Most of these horses are thoroughbreds, and they range in age from 1 to 25."

A charitable nonprofit organization providing a temporary sanctuary for the mare and foal.

Below are our first rescues that were saved from slaughter and  abuse.

Meet Rosy and baby Roxy. Roxy is just minutes old
nursing for the first time. Rosy and Roxy were the
first to arrive at Pregnant Mare Rescue.

Dazzle
Junior was rescued September 9th 2007. He
heads to his new loving home for Christmas.

Meet Dozor, Dazzle's little/large baby girl

"Pregnant Mare Rescue" believes horses should not be slaughtered for food, certainly not pregnant mares.

Our goal is to purchase as many  mares as possible, gentle them, and allow them to foal in peace,... off of the feedlots.  Once their babies are on the ground we want to give mares the chance to nurse and nurture their babies,.... then we gentle the foals. When the foal is weaned, we can adopt both mare and foal out to loving homes.

Over 90,000 horses went to slaughter last year, providing meat to European and Asian markets. Please help us stop the horrible fate these noble animals face.

I made it but so many don't, so please help if you can

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world,
indeed its the only thing that ever has.
